General Gynaecology

University College London Hospital is a leading teaching hospital with a dynamic gynaecology department. Many subspecialisations are offered within the department supported by a strong general gynaecology base. The provision of this service by a team of experienced gynaecologists covers a wide range of general gynaecology conditions. The team consists of Mr Anthony Silverstone, Miss Sarah Creighton, Mr Patrick O'Brien, Mr Joseph Iskaros and Miss Naaila Aslam.

General gynaecology scanning is an integrated part of our service. The availability of state of the art ultrasound machines provides our patients with the best diagnostic tools. Our trained sonographers, supported by Miss Aslam and Mr Iskaros (general and emergency gynaecology scanning leads), offer the imaging support to run this service.

Our team of general gynaecologists working within a multidisciplinary framework (including general surgeons, urologists, radiologists and intensivists) provides the expertise to deal with the most challenging and complex cases in gynaecology. This is demonstrated clearly in our Fibroid Service which is now complemented by fibroid embolisation technique performed by Dr J Brookes.

The Birth Injury Clinic which is run by Mr O'Brien, Miss El Neil and Mr Iskaros offers great help to affected women. Working with a team of physiotherapists, psychologists and midwives the clinic promises to fill a big gap in postpartum care in this part of London.
