To provide a suitable environment for a clinical or laboratory based research project where a specific area of novel research can be explored and presented in the form of a dissertation – MSc only
To enable students to develop skills required by today’s science and clinical staff, such as oral and poster presentations, writing scientific documents, IT skills and laboratory techniques such as PCR and FISH
To develop peer assessment and communication through discussion-based tutorials.
Objectives
By completion of the course the MSc and PG Diploma students should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding in the theoretical (including clinical) and laboratory aspects of prenatal genetics and fetal medicine.
By qualifying the students will be able to demonstrate transferable skills including information technology, analysis of scientific papers, essay writing, seminar and poster presentation, research techniques, peer review, laboratory skills and dissertation writing (MSc only).
All students will have gained knowledge of both the clinical and laboratory aspects of prenatal genetics and fetal medicine.
